Just got my Austin Energy Power Saver kit! It includes wallplate insulators, an led plug-in light, adhesive weather stripping, and two CFL bulbs (65/70watt equivalents). This kit is free of charge when you join the Power Saver Program. Here was my November usage:
November Electricity Usage
Total kWh: 362.00
$ Billed: 32.07
Daily Average (kWh/day): 12
It’s going to be difficult to tell how much these things will help with power usage, but I’m pretty sure it can’t hurt. A few of my wall sockets have “cold plates” meaning that cold air was flowing in seeping through the walls. The insulators should be a big help there. Shooting for a sub $30 energy bill!
What was it actually (Austin Energy Power Saver kit)?
The kit was just a box containing those items: insulators, light, weather stripping, and CFLs. It’s nothing fancy, but just a way for most users to jump start into thinking about power saving.
Readers beware. Jason’s house is extremely hot. I don’t know how he stands it.
(just kidding)
